As a commercial photographer it’s a great passion capturing the essence of luxury experiences for clients. An invitation from Flockhill Lodge, one of New Zealand’s most esteemed alpine retreats, to document their guest activities was a photoshoot that got me excited. This prestigious assignment perfectly aligned with my expertise and passion for showcasing the pinnacle of hospitality and adventure.
Nestled within the rugged beauty of New Zealand’s Southern Alps lies Flockhill Lodge, a sanctuary where luxury meets untamed wilderness. This distinguished alpine retreat, situated in the heart of the Craigieburn Valley and surrounded by dramatic mountains and winding rivers, offers a remarkable experience for those seeking the epitome of indulgence. With its elevated architecture and unparalleled landscape setting, Flockhill Lodge stands as a testament to opulence and serenity, providing guests with an exclusive escape into the untouched magnificence of the Southern Alps. There wasn’t a limitation with beauty of the backdrop.
Working with Flockhill Lodge was more than just another assignment, the magnitude of the opportunity to document their activities for their high-end clientele cannot be overstated. Flockhill Lodge stands as a beacon of luxury amongst the few in New Zealand, attracting discerning guests from around the world who seek not just accommodation, but an experience. To be entrusted with capturing the essence of this sanctuary, where opulence meets untamed wilderness, was both an honour and a privilege knowing that the images I captured would not only showcase the beauty of Flockhill Lodge but also resonate with viewers who appreciate the finer things in life.
From the moment I arrived at Flockhill Lodge, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. Over the course of our collaboration, I had the opportunity to photograph a range of activities, packrafting, hiking, mustering, fly-fishing, camp cooking with the chef and horse riding across vast expanses of land. Each moment was a chance to capture the unique blend of luxury and wilderness that defines the Flockhill experience.
But more than just capturing images, I had the privilege of forging connections with the incredible team at Flockhill Lodge with Valarie, the talented chef Taylor crafting culinary masterpieces over the campfire to the activities manager Tim guiding us through thrilling adventures, each person enriching the experience with energy, and in the end making it all work smoothly.
Easily one of my favourite moments was going out on horseback, it’s always been a passion of mine ever since my adventures in Mongolia. It was completely a blank canvas to shoot the activities surrounded in the landscape, with riding I picked a very scenic location overlooking the Craigeburn area. This spot has now become one of their popular destinations for clientele. It was hard to put down the camera in such a stunning setting, but do I wish to get back there and ride for the fun of it.
As I reflect on my week with Flockhill Lodge, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to capture and showcase Flockhill lodge in my own photography, offering a glimpse where luxury and adventure come together in perfect harmony. Really stoked on the images captured.
